Our physical and mental world is submerged by logos, words, slogans and brands: letters are everywhere, on our bodies through clothes, on city walls, in magazines, online … Everything has a name, a brand, even the water we drink, our food, and maybe one day the air we breathe. A single word or a symbol can open a whole universe in our mind.

The words, the signs inspire me. However, my starting point is the fabric: a special texture, a precious velvet, an intense color … I have a passion for quality fabrics, silks, velvets, or old fabrics like thick linen sheets. My backdrop is the fabric. I embroider by hand evocative words or brands on it. I love embroidery not only because it’s a slow process that forces me to slow down, but also because it’s concrete. To flesh out the words with thread I use rigorous old techniques that need to be worked with precision and thoroughness.

Embroidery creates a relief: it is not a simple flat image, there are volumes, It reflects light . I like to create kinds of bas-reliefs, which have a sensual dimension and whose depth can only be truly grasped in the real world.
